The Facts That Shows British PM Is Wrong By Saying That Nigeria Is Possibly The Most Corrupt Country In The World!

Even though Nigeria is highly corrupt, British PM got his facts wrong here. According to metro.co.uk, going purely off the rankings, Afghanistan is surpassed by only Somalia and North Korea in terms of corruption. Nigeria finds itself at joint 136th out of 177, with first place the least corrupt. The report, claims that millions of dollars earmarked for construction in Afghanistan have been reportedly wasted or stolen. 

Talking about sub-Saharan Africa, the index quotes Chantal Uwimana, Director for Sub-Saharan Africa. He says: ‘“Forty out of the region’s 46 countries show a serious corruption problem and there’s no improvement for continent powerhouses Nigeria and South Africa.

‘If corruption and impunity are to ‘be a thing of the past’ as the African Union stated, governments need to take bold steps to ensure rule of law is the reality for everyone.’
