Senator Takes Mickey Off President Buhari, Says Buhari Is Condoning Corruption With His Cabinet & Accused SFG Of Doctoring Their Report!

Senator Shehu Sani, Chairman Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Humanitarian crises in the Northeast, has expressed disappointment at president Buhari's response to the committee’s report indicating the Secretary to the Federal Government on corruption.

Reacting to President Buhari’s position, exonerating the SGF, Babachir Lawal of any wrongdoing in the award of contract in IDPs to his company, Rholavision Engineering Services Limited, Sani explained that something has gone wrong.

In his reaction, Senator Sani appeared to have rubbished the letter President Buhari sent to the senate in which he outlined why he could not act as demanded by the Senate, giving such reasons as; (1) because the report of the Senate Ad hoc committee on “Mounting humanitarian crisis in the North East” was signed by three of nine members of the committee. (2) the SGF was not given fair hearing to defend himself, as he was allegedly not invited by the committee before the indictment

According to reports, as soon as Senator Bukola Saraki finished reading the president’s letter, Mr. Sani rose to disprove Mr. Buhari’s claims. Sani said “Corruption in the Judiciary and others is treated with insecticide while corruption in the government is treated with deodorant.”  Mr Sani also expressing worry that Mr. Buhari’s letter was full of misinformation and falsehood.

Explaining further, Mr. Sani said he would provide evidence that Mr. Lawal was invited to the Senate through the clerk. “Mr. President, Distinguished Colleagues, I rise through Order 43 of Senate Rules and I want to submit that President Buhari’s reaction on SGF shows the use of insecticides when fighting corruption at the legislative arm, while he uses deodorant at the Executive arm,” he said.

Debunking claims that SGF was not given fair hearing before calling for his resignation in report, Sani explained that a public hearing was held, but the SGF did not honour the invitation which was given to him.

He also averred that copies of the report was signed by all the members of the Committee, while expressing shock at the version without his name which Mr. President relied on.

“Distinguished Colleagues, you realize that the copy which was read to us did not carry my name even as the Committee Chairman and I wonder where it emanated from,” he asked.

He insisted that the Committee did a thorough review of activities of government officials involving coordination of IDPs, adding that SGF remained indicted
