Watch AIT News Video As Police Forcefully Invade Abuja Home Of Goodluck Jonathan, Cart Away Valuables!

Members of Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday, January 4, 2016 broke into the home of belonging to the former first family of Nigeria, the Jonathans, thetrentonline.com reports

According to witnesses, the home is the family home of Patience Jonathan, the former first lady and wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan. The building is located along Igbeti Rock Street, Maitama and relatives of the former first lady live in the property.

The only person in the premises when the team of police officers, attached to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, was the security guard. According to his accounts to AIT Television, the policemen assaulted him.

The assault team was made up of over 20 policemen and they drove in three Hilux vans and another Toyota Hiace bus. They broke into the building, ransacked the house, broke open a safe, and carted away valuables from the home. The video below, an AIT recording shows footage from the scene of the invasion.


According to an eyewitness, the operation was “brisk” and the officers did not explain what they were looking for in the first lady’s home. “Men of the Nigerian Police Force raided the home of the former First Lady, Patience, today. A reporter from one of the television stations who witnessed the event was harassed by security officers and her phone was seized,” punchng.com reports.

“The operation, which took place at Igbeti Rock Street, started at about 5 pm. The policemen came in four vehicles and they also took away one hefty brown envelope. They didn’t speak to us on why they came or on the contents of the envelope.”
