Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II on Sunday, April 30th, paid apology visit to the Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the Government House. The Emir had earlier tendered an apology at a meeting organized by six Northern governors at the Government House in Kaduna on Friday night, to save him from imminent deposition.
The meeting was attended by Governors Kashim Shettima of Borno, Nasir El-Rufai, Aminu Masari of Katsina State, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and Abubakar Bello of Niger State. The Emir further pleaded for pardon over the mischievous assertions made on several occasion condemning the projects of the state government.
It will be recalled that the monarch while speaking at an event on April 5th, in Kaduna, faulted the governor's premier project, the $1.85 million light rail project, saying it was a misplacement of priority. The emir admitted his mistakes and apologized to Ganduje, saying:
"I am still learning. But I have learned from this mistake. I apologized to you my governor for the embarrassment and inconvenience my remarks might have caused you"
In his response, Ganduje said he has personally forgiven him but would never stop the ongoing probe of the emirate's accounts by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
