The Senate has shunned a report by its joint Committee on Police Affairs and National Security and Intelligence, having perceived it as being ‘one-sided’. This was the action of the Upper Chamber at during the plenary on Wednesday, following a report presented by the chairman of the panel, Senator Abu Ibrahim.

you may recall that the panel was set up to investigate efforts by the Police to end the killings in Benue State. The Senator told the lawmakers that said the panel only had the submissions of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, who made a series of allegations against Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
However, the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, while reacting to the development, ruled that the report be stepped down, and asked that the panel meet with Ortom and report back within one week.
