There Are Too Many Unbearable Injustices In APC - Gov. Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, on Thursday, accused the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government of President Muhammadu Buhari of failing Nigerians in addressing the country’s major challenges, Punchng reports.

Ahmed said Buhari’s government had failed to address insecurity, economic and unemployment challenges confronting the nation. He spoke during a town hall meeting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

During the meeting, various stakeholders in the Kwara Central Senatorial District called on him and the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, to immediately dump the APC. The governor said he might be quitting the ruling APC.

According to him, the party had not met the expectations of the people of Kwara State. He said prominent stakeholders in Kwara State alongside other notable Nigerians built the APC in 2014 with high expectations.

He lamented that they were disappointed about the perceived failure of the Federal Government to address insecurity, economic and unemployment challenges confronting the nation.

Ahmed said, “We formed the APC together in 2014 with the hope to meet the needs and aspirations of the people in critical areas of our national life.

“The leadership of the APC has failed to intervene in critical issues affecting the party and its members; injustice within the party is unbearable.”

The governor lauded the people of the state for their support for his government.

He assured the stakeholders that he would consider their plea and make public the new platform that he hoped would meet the aspirations of the people of the state.

He also said his administration would continue to run an all-inclusive process that would take care of all interests. The stakeholders had, during the town hall meeting, called on the governor to take them to another political party where, according to them, their welfare would be guaranteed and their expectations would be met.

The stakeholders included artisan groups, market men and women, Okada riders, youth groups, and physically-challenged people.

They equally called on Saraki to immediately defect from the APC to another party, while pledging their unalloyed loyalty to the two politicians.

The leaders of the stakeholders included the President of the Kwara State Artisans Group, Alhaji Saad Alawaye; the Kwara Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Mr. Joshua Adekanye; the Youth leader, Alhaji Mohammad Baba; and the Women Leader, Hajia Rahmat Oganija.

They alleged that the APC had shown injustices towards the Senate President. They called on Saraki to immediately defect to a better and safer political party, adding that they were ready to defect with Saraki to another party.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State House of Assembly has said that the Coordinator of the Kwara State Chapter of the Buhari Support Group, Mr. Mashood Bakare, has formally resigned his appointment.

Bakare, according to a statement by the assembly’s Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Sanni Abdulrahman, announced his resignation on Thursday on the floor of the House.

The Speaker, Dr. Ali Ahmad, enjoined politicians to always be sensitive to the yearnings and aspirations of their people in order to make democracy more meaningful to average Nigerians. With Punchng
