BREAKING NEWS: Governor Akinwunmi Ambode Of Lagos State Drops His Second Term Ambition, Issues A Statement!

Unconfirmed reports making waves online has it that the Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has chickened out of his second term bid. According to the report, the governor made his decision known today's afternoon in a statement he released to the press.

"I, Akinwunmi Ambode the executive governor of Lagos state after due considerations and consultations, I have decided to suspend my campaign for the second term as the executive governor of our great state." "This is done in good faith to put the interests of our great state ahead of our personal ambition and to honor the clarion call for a change of leadership by our great party," the report said the governor said in the statement.

This is coming as a shock to all political watchers in Nigeria, least, at a time the opposition party in the state is dangling their party's governorship ticket to him should the worse happen. However, that appears not to be, as the governor has accepted the pressure from the power that be in APC Lagos State chapter to drop his second term ambition for a change of leadership.

You may recall his godfather, Alhaji Bola Tinubu has been on his neck for weeks now to not go for a second term, because, according to sources in the know he (Tinubu) has anointed someone else for the party's ticket come 2019. 

Here is the statement said to have been released by the governor! 

I, Akinwunmi Ambode the executive governor of Lagos state after due considerations and consultations, I have decided to suspend my campaign for the second term as the executive governor of our great state.

This is done in good faith to put the interests of our great state ahead of our personal ambition and to honor the clarion call for a change of leadership by our great party.

I am committed to the program and manifestos of our great party APC to improve the lives of the people of Lagos state and Nigeria as a whole.

In view of this, I hereby endorse Hon Jide Sanwolu to represent our party for the office of the executive governor of Lagos state.

I thank the leadership of our party at all levels for their supportive role during my term as the executive governor of Lagos state.
