UCHE NWOSU AND THE PROPHESY OF THE THREE WITCHES - BY Louis Kachi Igwilo

Each time I ponder about the inordinate ambition of Uche Nwosu to replace his father-in-law, Gov. Rochas Okorocha as the Imo state governor in 2019, the only thing that comes to my mind is the three witches that deceived and destroyed Macbeth in the famous William Shakespeare' play.

In this scenario, we have the father and mother in law to the young man and their daughter as the third. I have no objection to his aspiration neither does it directly have any effect on me except the fact that Imo is my state. However, I feel for the young man as he is just playing Macbeth. Common sense would have exposed his thinking faculty to the fact that Rochas Okorocha, his father-in-law simply wants to ensure he goes into political oblivion.

There are four factors that would have exposed Uche Nwosu to the fact that it would be easier for the camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for him to go into Douglas house to replace his father-in-law.

Firstly, Orlu zone of Imo state would have governed Imo state for 16 years out of the 20 years of this democratic experience (Though Orlu zone still remains the most underdeveloped zone in the state). This is one of the strongest factors that should work against any gubernatorial candidate for Imo state from Orly zone in 2019.

Secondly, Igbo land is not like the north, Kwara state in particular or the West where the likes of Tinubu and Sarakis are demigods who determine who gets what. Igbo enwe eze. This factor alone should also have exposed Uche to the fact that it is the most difficult thing for any Igbo man to impose his in law on the people as if it is a Royal Majesty stool.

The third factor is that his father in law had an abysmal performance in his two-term governance of the state. He has destroyed all the legacy projects established since the regime of Dede Sam Mbakwe,. He has destroyed almost all the markets in the state including those in rural areas. He has acquired almost all the collective wealth of Imo people including lands and other investment. How then does Uche Nwosu believe that ndi Imo will let his in-law go unpunished for his bad governance?

The last factor is how Uche believes that ndi Imo will not ask how someone who was an applicant 7 years ago and who has not been known to do any other thing but serve his father-in-law could suddenly become a multi-millionaire contesting for the most exalted seat in the state if not with fund he and his in-laws have looted from the state?

Rochas Okorocha if not like the witches in Macbeth, should not have in any way drafted the young man into the race except for the fact that he wants the young man to destroy his political future by starting off with bad blood that will result from the outcome of 2019 election which has already started when the APC held her congresses in the state, pitching people like Ararume et al against Rochas.

A good father in law would have at least sent the young man to the National Assembly, the House of Representatives particularly to enable him to grow politically and thereafter dream of being a governor. My final word for the young man is that it should be better he saves whatever he has acquired while serving his father-in-law instead of wasting all in a bid to become a governor as promised by the three witches. It will be tantamount to the biblical young man that served his father-in-law for seven years to get a wife only to be given the wrong wife and he had to serve another seven years to get the woman of his heart. Uche Nwosu surely will not want to serve his father-in-law for another seven years. But his ambition seems to point to that direction He sure has a good experience of what poverty looks like, having just come out of it after Ohakim left office and it would be disastrous for him to return to it.
