BABY BORN WITH TWO FULLY-FORMED  GNASHING TEETH

She amazed nurses – and her parents – when they found she’d been born with two fully formed front teeth. New baby Eva Griffiths shows why mother Vicki’s plans to breast-feed her have bitten the dust.

At first no one noticed that Eva – now just 12 days old – had been born with two fully formed front teeth.

It was steelworker dad Steven, 30, who first spotted her fangs after she was delivered, weighing 7lb 4oz, at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Vicki, 26, said: “Steven told me, ‘She’s got teeth, you know’. We burst out laughing but were also in shock – and so were the midwives.”

"She had her mouth closed to begin with, so we didn’t notice. It was quite bizarre to see them."

The mum of three added: “I wanted to breast-feed Eva but her teeth have put me off. Can anyone blame me?”

Jonathan Wyllie, consultant neonatologist at James Cook, said: “It probably happens about three times every two years here and we deliver 4,000 babies a year. It’s every 2,000 to 3,000 births."
