VODKA DEAD BULL: SHOCKING RISK OF ENERGY DRINK COCKAIL

MIXING alcohol with energy drinks such as Red Bull could be even worse for your heart and nervous system than doctors previously thought. Research has linked the high-caffeine cocktails with heart problems and anxiety. And a top brain expert fears the drinks could be a health disaster. Professor Peter Miller, from Deakin University in Victoria, Australia, said most research has only looked at the effects of one shot and one energy drink. That ignores the fact that many party-goers knock back several in a nightPeople who have energy drinks tend to stay out longer and so get through more alcohol, studiesreveal.
Others found those who neck them are more likely to drink-drive, get in a fight or injure themselves while drunk. Despite the claims, studies have played down the health risks of mixing booze with the sugary, caffeinated soft drinks. But Prof Miller says those reports were funded by energy drink companies and so cannot be completely trusted. He suggests drinkers return to mixers such as fruit juice, tonic or soda water. 
His warnings come a year after an Australian study found youngsters who mix booze and energy drinks risk heart palpitations and disturbedsleepAnd in another paper, medical expert Dr Steven Meredith said: “Some research suggests that excessive caffeine consumption is associated with a number of negative health consequences, including anxiety, heart attack, bladder instability and reduced foetal growth.” UK sales of energy drinks have more than doubled since 2005, with the market now worth more than £1billion.
