Chrystal Hassell, 37, is facing charges of child neglect and is on suicide watch at Marion County Jail.
Hassell called 911 from the Florida motel when her baby turned blue after being born prematurely. He is now in a critical condition. According to reports, the mother did not even know she was pregnant until last month and had vowed not to smoke crack again.
Her cravings proved to be too great and she went on a drugs binge the day before the birth. Both the newborn and his 11-month-year-old brother have been taken into custody by the Department of Children and Families.
The mother's boyfriend, Vincent Terry, who is in prison and facing charges for domestic violence and attempted murder said he did not know his girlfriend was using drugs during her pregnancy. He said: "Of course we're going to stay together.
"She's not a bad person. She just got a problem and together we'll fight it." Hassell has been using drugs since she was a teenager and also has a 16-year-old daughter. A dailystar.co.uk report.
