No doubt this will send a shocking wave down the spin of any parent. Finding your daughter's teacher hiding under your daughter's bed will never make a palatable day for any parent at all. Some may even commit if care is no taken.
But that's what happened in this instance. A shocked mother caught her daughter's teacher hiding under her teenage girls's bed and can you believe, he admitted strings of sex offences.
Married Andrew Welsh’s sexual relationship with the 16-year-old was exposed when her mother returned home unexpectedly one morning last July.
The 36-year-old had bombarded the pupil with obscene texts, including: ‘Have you heard about my maths lesson? We’re going to find out if 35 goes into 16.’
But he was caught out when her mother noticed a pair of man’s boots at the side of the bed in her room. The court heard she also spotted her ‘impressionable’ daughter had ruffled hair and smudged lipstick. While confronting her daughter, she looked down and saw movement in the drawer compartment within the girl’s single bed.
She saw movement of material which seemed to match the suit jacket her daughter was holding. ‘She asked the girl: “What are you doing? Who is here?” ‘The girl replied “Mr Welsh”.
‘Her mother ordered the defendant to get out from under the bed and recognised him from the school.’ Walsh, from Atherton, near Wigan, admitted six counts of sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust.
He was given a 14-month jail term, suspended for two years, and ordered to do 200 hours of community service. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
