Gold was reportedly found flowing from the water taps of some homes, but surprisingly, it was not as great as it sounded.
That’s because residents in Whitehall, Montana, in the United States, were worried the drinking water could also contain something more sinister. Mark Brown told NBC his wife Sharon had alerted him to the gold flakes after she discovered them while washing up. She pulled the plug to let the water out and it was glistening, gleaming little flecks,’ he said.
But despite having a potentially valuable resource on tap, Mr Brown was more concerned about what else could be lurking in the water. He added: ‘If we’re getting heavy metals that you can see with the naked eye, what else might be in there?
A nearby gold mine was being blamed for the contamination but an official denied this and said it probably came from connecting pipes.
