The Rich & Powerful Can Also Cry; The Trial Of Ivory Coast Former First Lady Simone Gbagbo Begins!

The family that chose to destroy themselves. A rapacious desire for wealth and possessions, the quest for power and corruption led to the former Ivorian first family to try to clinch to power by commanding the slaughter of innocent souls for their own sake after Mr Gbagbo lost a presidential re-election five years ago. Today the story has changed. The old well respected Laurent Gbagbo at a time had offers urging him to relinquish power for better life abroad, but he chose to defy advise as he thought he could clinch to power for as long as he wanted.

But most importantly here, women are known to be the softer heart of men (their husband), but in many instances that saying has never lived up to it's expectation. For instance; In Syria, the West thought it could work to assuage Mr Bashar al-Assad to relinquish power for the sake of innocent Syrians, it never worked. It did not work in Libya, nor has it been seen to have worked anywhere else and am not surprise it did not work in Ivory Coast then either.

And today what is happening? The trial has begun in Ivory Coast of the ex-first lady, Simone Gbagbo, for her alleged role in post-election violence five years ago. he wife of former President Laurent Gbagbo has been charged along with 82 supporters of her husband, according to the bbc.co.uk.

Mr Gbagbo is awaiting trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of crimes against humanity.  Some 3,000 people died in violence after the ex-president refused to accept defeat in a run-off vote.

Mrs Gbagbo, who had been held under house arrest for three years, has been charged with "attempting to undermine the security of the state".

Her husband, ex-President Laurent Gbagbo, is facing four charges at the ICC in The Hague, including murder, rape and persecution. Mr Gbagbo, 69, who insists he is innocent, is the first former head of state to have appeared at the ICC.

What a world, the irony of life. I hope things like this will go-on to teach people lesson and avert all these senseless and meaningless killings going on around the world today.
