The actor who starred in Alfred Hitchcock's classic film The Birds passed away at his Los Angeles home after a dinner party on Thursday night. He is said to have suffered a heart attack, thou unconfirmed, ok.co.uk reports.
Taylor was best known for his roles in The Birds, The Time Machine, and voiced the character of Pongo in 101 Dalmatians. He rose to fame in the 1960s and worked with some of Hollywood's biggest names including Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Fonda and Dame Maggie Smith.
More recently he made a cameo appearance in Quentin Tarantino's 2009 film Inglorious Basterds.
Taylor is survived by his wife Carol and his daughter Felicia, a former reporter for CNN.
