In their bid to jettison claims that president Buhari's visit to Obama was not at the instance of the White House, but was requested by president Buhari, they came up with this memo I saw, that read in part; ''the Obama's administration took unprecedented action of inviting Buhari to United States, rather than have Obama visit Buhari in Abuja, because it gives Buhari access to may more top American policymaker''.......Mmmmm, My question now is, if that is the case, how many top Nigerian policymakers was in President Buhari's delegation to America to help harness the vast knowledge of the ''many more US policymakers'?
This US visit is just a complete waste of taxpayers money, which is estimated to be in the region of N2.5 billion to N3 billion! I do not know what to call it. It is not a trade visit nor a think-tank-economic visit and listening to President Buhari on air, you could notice the visit was completely of no economic benefit to Nigeria. Buhari could as well have given Obama a ring and ask for help to recover looted funds and it will be granted within a twinkle of an eye.
International trade is the framework upon which American prosperity rests. Free trade policies have created a level of competition in today's open market that engenders continual innovation and leads to better products, better-paying jobs, new markets, and increased savings and investment.
Free trade enables more goods and services to reach American consumers at a good prices, thereby substantially increasing their standard of living. This is exactly what Nigeria needs, a trade visit to a global economic power, aimed at bolstering Nigerian competiveness in the world's committee of nations when it come to import and export.
I could still remember what happened to the Nigerian economy just after former president Goodluck Jonathan stormed America with who is who in the Nigerian business sphere. The economy responded well to the expansion of trade that occurred after the signing of series of trade agreements and memorandum of understanding.
The world riches man was there to welcome the African riches man. And shortly after Nigeria became the largest economy in African, Worthing well over $510 billion, even with some sectors of the economy remaining untapped and not included in the index figures.
There is no doubt President Barack is President Buhari's man of distinguished courage, ability, great admiration and indeed of noble qualities, and whom he would want to go and see again and again. To Mr Buhari, Obama will do no wrong. Yes we know that. But that's not what we are going to eat! You better get seated and start moving this nation in the direction everyone expected of you. An Ouchfrandib Post news insight!
