Boat Carrying ‘600 Migrants’ Capsizes Off The Libyan Coast

Unbelievable as this continue to happen even after well over 2000 people have died trying to reach Europe through this means.
A boat containing an estimated 600 migrants has capsized of the Libyan coast. Rescuers said at least 150 people could be seen in the water after the boat, believed to be fishing vessel, overturned.

The Irish naval vessel Le Niamh, captained by Donal Gallagher, was one of several ships requested by the Italian coastguard to speed to the rescue. An Italian military helicopter was reportedly lowering rescue rafts into the sea, while a boat operated by Doctors Without Borders was also reportedly taking party in the rescue.

The distressed vessel was reported to be about 75 miles north west of Tripoli, Libya’s capital.
Officials have yet to determine what caused the capsizing.

The International Organisation for Migration, a human rights group, has said nearly 2,000 migrants are believed to have died at sea since the start of this year, but the exact toll of dead is not known.

I am of the opinion that both the African governments and their European counterparts needs to do more to stop these people from their point of departure. Source; metro.co.uk
