Normally, without being told, Nigerians have always been used to 'committees.' Government upon government in the history of Nigeria are known for setting up of committees upon committees. Just mention it, and a committee will be setup to look into it. And in 99% of those issues, the committee's reports will not see the light of the day.
However, it seems things has somehow changed with the coming of Muhammadu Buhari. Oh! Sorry, I forgot he is a change agent. No wonder he has changed the acronym 'COMMITTEE' to 'PROBE'. Since the coming of this administration nearly three month now, the only change we have had in Nigeria is the change from COMMITTEE to PROBE.
For instance;
Buhari to probe GEJ,
Buhari to probe former ministers,
Buhari to probe NNPC,
Buhari to probe Oil Subsidy,
Buhari to probe Chinese rail loan,
Buhari to probe Mama Peace
Buhari to probe arms deals
Buhari to probe CBN
Buhari to probe the sale of NITEL
Just mention it, a probe panel will be proposed. The last but not the least, Buhari to probe how ISIS leader got entry VISA to Nigeria, and
Buhari to use probe loots to sponsor Women ministry.
And you know what? It takes not less than four to six months for any probe panel to turn in it's report and another two months or so, for the government to look into the white paper before making decision. And as in previous governments, the whole thing ends up under the carpet.
I just hope Buhari's four years in office will not just turn in probe reports/whitepaper as it's achievements. Because Nigerians needs good governance, infrastructures and at least basic amenities from this administration, staring from where the last government stopped.
Or are we going to wait until Buhari recovers looted funds before Nigerian will star to witness the change they voted for? I hope Buhari knows, he has just four years to impress Nigeria and Nigerians or he will be probed!
