It is no new news that men think about sex every few seconds, and although I’ve never kept a detailed log of my saucy thoughts, I will admit to having something like that in mind very often, even though I don't get to having it as frequently as the thought.
Now for the science. Researchers at the University College of London concluded that the brains of human males probably possess a few extra cells (“mystery neurons,” or MCMs for “mystery cells of the male”) which provide that insatiable lust for se
One little thing though; the study was carried out on the behavior of Caenorhabditis elegans worms, so it’s not necessarily accurate to make the same assumption about human males. At the very least though, male worms are freaking horny, which is always interesting news. Worms were chosen because they are actually “the model animal of choice for many neuroscientists, because their neural circuits are so simple that they can be mapped in full,” according to Nature.
The researchers also concluded that men would take sex over the very food that keeps them alive. “When nematodes — hermaphrodites, males, and males with their MCMs deactivated — were kept hungry in areas with lots of salt, the purpose of the MCMs finally made themselves known. This is how the researchers came to that conclusion while experimenting, per the Washington Post.
“When just hunger was associated with a salty area, all of the nematodes would avoid higher concentrations of salt when moves to a new enclosure. “But when a salty enclosure brought a mate within reach — along with a lack of food — male nematodes would scurry right over to the salty corner of their new enclosure.
“Male nematodes who lacked MCMs showed the same behaviour as hermaphrodites, choosing to avoid hunger instead of choosing to seek out sex.” Remember though people, these are worms we are talking about – human males do have a little more brainpower and are far less likely to shag themselves to death. The worm study however may yield some insights into human sexuality as it’s governed by the very same neuroscience.
“The male human brain has types of neurons that the female brain doesn’t, and vice versa,” researcher Scott Emmons, told the Telegraph. “This may change how the two sexes perceive the world and their behavioural priorities.” Basically guys, you are now allowed to openly have sex on the brain. Why? It’s human biology people, get with the programme. Source; Viralthread
