Chelsea To Cough Out £10m To Get Torres Off Their Wage Bill!

Fernando Torres
Chelsea will need to cough out £10m in order to get Fernando Torres off their wage bill this summer, because the £175,000-a-week flop wants to be compensated for taking a lower salary at another club.
Jose Mourinho informed Torres that he has no future at Stamford Bridge following another poor campaign, which culminated in a disappointing display against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals, 1st leg In Paris, leading Mourinho to question whether the Spanish World Cup winner is even a ‘real striker’.
However, Torres is reluctant to lower his wages, as the chances of him securing a similarly lucrative deal elsewhere are virtually nil. The former Liverpool star, who the Blues paid a British transfer record £50m for in January 2011, still has two years left to run on his current contract.
Mourinho, according to the Daily Mail, is “furious” with Torres’s attitude. It’s believed the Chelsea manager’s decision to sell Juan Mata to Manchester United in January was not well received by Torres, who is a close friend of the Spanish playmaker.
Despite not being particularly happy at Stamford Bridge, Torres and his family are now settled in London, and the 30-year-old will not be forced out of the club unless he is financially compensated.
With Mourinho desperate to bring in a world-class striker this summer - Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa is the man reportedly on top of the Portuguese coach’s wish-list - the west London outfit may need to bow to Torres’s demands in order to get him off the club’s wage bill.
But, in the meantime, Chelsea must wait for a potential buyer to make a formal offer for the misfiring striker.
