A TRUCKER was speared by a six metre wooden pole during a massive pile-up – and SURVIVED.
Li Feng was left close to death after the pole narrowly missed his heart on a motorway near Kaifeng, China. The accident happened during heavy traffic and involved several vehicles. The lorry driven by Mr Li Feng that crashed into another lorry in front that was carrying timber.
Police spokesman Li Wu said: "As a result of the accident, several of the wooden poles that were sticking out over the allowed limit from the lorry in front, speared into the lorry behind and smashed into the cab. "One of them went into the body of the driver who was pinned to his seat." Li Feng was already unconscious when police arrived half-an-hour later. It took another 30 minutes before firemen could get through the huge traffic jam.


It was impossible to remove the pole so undid the bolts on his chair and took it him to hospital still strapped in. Docs operating on him found his spleen, stomach and left lunch were damaged.
But, amazingly, his heart had been missed. It took four hours of operating to successfully remove the wood and doctors say that he is now expected to recover. His condition is stable but that he is likely to remain in hospital for several weeks to make sure that there is no sign of infection.
Doctor Chung Peng said: "The only risk now is that we may not have removed all of the dirt and fragments of wood or material that may have been forced into his body. "If no infection sets in during the next few days, we expect him to make a full recovery." a dailystar.co.uk report.
