Monica Lewinsky Gave An Emotional Speech On Online Shaming, Gets Standing Ovation At The Cannes Lions Festival

Monica Lewinsky won a standing ovation from the creative elite at the recently held Cannes Lions festtival after telling them in emotional speech to join her mission to ensure “public shaming as a blood sport must stop,” pagesix.com reports.

Almost two decades after she was thrust into international infamy for her affair with then-President Bill Clinton, Lewinsky has emerged as a fierce advocate for victims of online shaming, arguing that her experience as a 22-year-old intern made her “Patient Zero” of online internet shaming, perhaps the earliest example of what internet shame can do to someone’s life.

“Like me, at 22, a few of you may also have taken wrong turns and fallen in love with the wrong person, maybe even your boss … Unlike me, though, your boss probably wasn't the president of the United States of America.
