Burkina Faso; Military juntas in Burkina Faso have taken over the government of the country. This comes weeks before the national elections which were scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015.
The military announced that it had taken over control of the country, a day after the elite presidential guard unit of the military burst into a cabinet meeting and arrested President Michel Kafando, Prime Minister Isaac Zida and two ministers.
The statement also stated that the transitional government of President Kafando and Prime Minister Zida had been dissolved. The coup comes a year after the president of 27 years, Blaise Compaore, was ousted late last year in a public uprising. Watch video below:
