Emmanuel Macron 39 Wins French Presidential Election By A Margin

Emmanuel Macron former banker and France's economy minister has been elected president of France defeating Marine Le Pen.acron-with an emphatic margin of 65.5 to 34.5%. Le Pen conceded defeat minutes after polls closed, and said she had called Macron to congratulate him. She said the result was “historic” for her party, which was now the “main opposition” to the new government.

The 39-year-old former investment banker, who served for two years as an economy minister but has never previously held elected office, will now become France’s youngest leader since Napoleon with a promise to transcend outdated left-right divisions.

Not only is Macron the youngest president in French history (he’s a year younger than Louis-Napoléon, Napoléon Bonaparte’s nephew, who was 40 when he was elected in 1848), he is also the first president in modern French history who does not belong to a major political party.
